Dennis Carmen, CPA
Managing Partner
Dennis Carmen, CPA, has been a Managing Partner of Carmen & Pearl since its formation in August 1979. Providing strategic insight and guidance to all clients, he is constantly looking out for their best interests. Dennis has been instrumental in the firm's development, growing Carmen & Pearl into a well established and respected practice with approximately 500 Clients in both the Individual and Corporate setting. Dennis has helped expand and diversify the firm over the years through acquisitions, client retention & referrals, as well as the retention of experienced professionals in our team.
Dennis completed his undergraduate studies at SUNY Albany in May 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree. He then went on to Long Island University where he completed his Masters of Science in Accountancy in February of 1979. Dennis became a licensed CPA professional in June 1986, and has been an active member in the NY State Society of CPA's since December 1986. Dennis also serves on the board of Park Insurance company, providing them with tax planning strategies and up-to-date accounting insights.
Brett Carmen, CPA
Partner
Brett leads Carmen & Pearl CPAs with a focus on making complex tax issues clear and practical. He advises individuals and businesses on tax strategy, multi-state compliance, and business structuring, with expertise in partnerships, S-corps, and advanced planning strategies. Known for his forward-thinking approach and strong client relationships, Brett ensures every client has a clear path forward year-round.
Brett Carmen completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland in May 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He then went on to work in the Investment Banking industry for the next 9.5 years, with roles spanning from Product Control, Financial Reporting, and Business Management. Brett became a licensed CPA professional in September 2017, and Joined Carmen & Pearl CPA's in January 2019.
Alyssa Goodman, CPA
Partner
Alyssa oversees client experience and firm operations, making sure deadlines are met and service stays seamless. She specializes in small business accounting, payroll, and state compliance, offering practical, everyday solutions to complex challenges. Clients value her responsiveness and ability to turn technical requirements into simple, actionable guidance.Alyssa Goodman completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland in May 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She then went on to work for Eisner Amper, Deloitte and ML Management. Alyssa became a licensed CPA professional in April 2015, and joined Carmen & Pearl CPA's in November 2019.
Brett Goldsmith, CPA
Partner
Brett Goldsmith brings more than 15 years of tax and financial expertise to the firm. A graduate of the University at Buffalo, Brett began his career in public accounting with EisnerAmper, where he gained a strong foundation in tax compliance and advisory services. Following his time in public accounting, Brett transitioned into consulting, working with a range of technology start-ups to help scale their operations and implement efficient financial processes. Since joining Carmen & Pearl three years ago, Brett has continued to apply his extensive knowledge to serve a diverse client base, combining technical tax proficiency with a forward-thinking approach to business advisory. His broad experience across industries and commitment to excellence make him an integral part of the firm’s leadership team.
Joe Regan
Joe has been with Carmen & Pearl for 10 years. He joined as part of an acquisition in 2009, and has been an integral part of our team ever since.

Office Staff
Our office staff consists of 6 employees, many of whom have been with the firm since the early 1990's, and other who have been with the firm for numerous years. They handle everything from client communications, bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, write-ups, and general office administrative tasks.
